Задание 1. Прочитайте и переведите текст, ответьте на вопросы.
Meet the Confords

The Cornfords live in Ruggy at 28 Coronation Street. John Cornford is a rich businessman of about fifty. He’s tall and dark. He wears dark suits but at weekends he wears casual clothes. He usually gets up at six, does some exercises and goes to the office. He never gets back before ten o’clock at night, so he doesn’t see much of his family. He is interested in collecting pictures of horses. At the moment he is traveling on business in America because he’s opening an office over there next year.

Sarah, Mr. Cornford’s wife, is forty-five. She is an attractive woman with blond hair and soft blue eyes. She is kind and gentle, very practical and full of common sense; Sarah is a house-wife. She looks after the house and the family.

The Cornfords have two children – a son and a daughter. Their son’s name is Steve. He is 22. He is a clever young man. He works at a design office. He is a very outdoor person – he is a keen sailor and a member of the local yacht club. When he has a chance Steve and his friends get down to the coast for the weekend, camping there and sailing in the competitions.

Steve has a number of close friends and a beautiful girl-friend, Pauline, by name. Pauline studies at a teacher’s training college. Steve and Pauline often go out for the evening to the cinema or else they go skating at the Rugby skating rink. Pauline is a very good skater and she is trying to teach Steve how to skate well.

Steve’s sister, Alice, is a lovely, quiet, serious girl. She goes to grammar school.

Sarah’s mother, Grandma, as the children call her, also lives with them. She is in her late sixties.

У Стива есть несколько близких людей и красивая подруга по имени Полина. Полина учится в колледже подготовки учителей. Стив и Полина часто ходят в кино или же катаются на коньках на катке Регби. Полина очень хорошая фигуристка, она пытается научить Стива хорошо кататься.

Сестра Стива, Алиса - прекрасная, тихая, серьезная девочка. Она ходит в гимназию.

Мать Сары, бабушка, как называют ее дети, тоже живет с ними. Ей за 60-т.

Задание 2. Раскройте скобки, напишите количественные местоимения much, many. Переведите предложения.

Задание 3. Раскройте скобки, поставьте сказуемое в форме Present Simple.

He (to know) much about this town.

-> He knows much about this town.

We (to live) in the Far East.

-> We live in the Far East.

You (to read) foreign press

.-> You read foreign press.

She (to get up) early.

->She gets up early

They (to go) to the University in the afternoon.

->They go to the University in the afternoon.

Задание 4. Напишите отрицательные предложения.

I help my parents.

-> I don’t help my parents.

She likes her work.

-> She doesn’t like her work.

They study at the medical academy.

-> They don’t study at the medical academy.

In the evening we attend the English courses.

-> In the evening we don’t attend the English courses.

My uncle speaks French.

-> My uncle doesn’t speak French

Задание 5. Раскройте скобки, поставьте сказуемое в Present Simple или Present Continuous. Переведите предложения.

I (to write) an English exercise now.

-> I am writing an English exercise now. Я пишу упражнение по английскому сейчас.

My sister (to sleep) now.

-> My sister is sleeping now. Моя сестра спит сейчас

His father (to watch) TV at the moment.

-> His father is watching TV at the moment. Его папа смотрит телевизор в данный момент.

I (to drink) strong coffee every day.

-> I drink strong coffee every day. Я пью крепкий кофе каждый день.

He (to work) in the garden on weekend.

-> He works in the garden on weekend. Он работает в саду по выходным.

Задание 6. Раскройте скобки и поставьте сказуемое Past Simple. Переведите.

On Monday we (to have) 5 lessons.

-> On Monday we had 5 lessons. В понедельник у нас было 5 уроков.

The first lesson (to be) Russian.

-> The first lesson was Russian. Первым уроком был русский.

At that lesson we (to write) a dictation.

-> At that lesson we wrote a dictation. На этом уроке мы писали диктант.

Nick (to go) to the blackboard.

-> Nick went to the blackboard. Ник пошел к доске.

He (to answer) well and (to get) five.

-> He answered well and got five. Он ответил хорошо и получил пять.

After the second lesson I (to go) to the canteen.

-> After the second lesson I went to the canteen. После второго урока я пошел в столовую.

I (to eat) sandwiches and (to drink) a cup of tea.

Задание 7. Раскройте скобки и поставьте сказуемое в Past Simple или Past Continuous. Переведите.

Задание 8. Переведите предложения, обращая внимание на степени сравнения прилагательных.

Это самая ценная картина в музее.

-> It is the most valuable painting in the museum.

Наши экзамены гораздо труднее, чем ваши.

-> Our exams are more difficult than yours.

Кто самый младший ученик в группе?

-> Who is the youngest student in the group.

Погода сегодня хуже, чем вчера.

-> The weather is worse today than it was yesterday.

Это здание самое высокое в городе.

-> It is the highest building in the city.

Задание 9. Раскройте скобки. Поставьте глаголы в Future Simple или Future Continuous.

If you come late I (to be) (to sleep).

-> If you come late I shall be sleeping.

He (to read) the whole evening.

-> He will read the whole evening.

I (to send) e-mail to my American friend next week.

-> I shall send e-mail to my American friend next week.

Don't come to me tomorrow I (to prepare) for my exams.

-> Don’t come to me tomorrow I shall be preparing for my exams.

We (to walk) in the park at this time.

-> We will be walking in the park at this time.
